Ghalib Ke Khat is the first ever dramatic, multi actor and full length presentation of the personal letters that the great poet wrote to his friends, disciples, and relatives.
In a unique presentation, the play has Mirza Ghalib’s friends, disciples, his wife (Umrao Begum) and even his maid (Wafadar) reading and reviewing, even criticizing his letters. In the process, the audience is introduced to not only Ghalib – his letters, life and life style but also to his near and dear ones, including Munshi Har Gopal ‘Taftah’, a great yet long forgotten poet of Persian, played by Tom Alter.
It features some of the prominent actors of the country; including Tom Alter; Jaskiran Chopra, who excels in portraying the first ever extensive portrayal of Mirza Ghalib’s wife; Anju Chhabra as Mirza Ghalib’s witty and vivacious maid, and Dr M Sayeed Alam in multiple roles.
Last but not the least, the play is produced by Pierrot’s Troupe – the theater company credited with giving many new, original and multi award wining entertaining productions to Hindi, Urdu & English Theatre: Ghalib In New Delhi, Maulana Azad, Big B, Ghalib, K L Saigal, Sons of Babur, Ghalib Ke Khat, Shah Jahan –O- Mumtaz, Pakistan Aur Alzheimer’s, To Gandhi Ji With Spelling Mistakes, Sir Iqbal etc.
